Paper Moon Day Nurseries are looking for a Deputy Manager to join our friendly team and work in partnership with the manager at Paper Moon Sandlands to ensure the dayto day operation of the nursery is kept to high standard, in line with company policy.
The suitable person will be dynamic, enthusiastic, reliable and confident. They will have strong communication skills and excellent organisational skills.
They will need to hold a minimum qualification of NVQ Level 3 with post qualification experience and supervisory experience.
A sound knowledge of the EYFS welfare requirements and Ofsted standards essential.
Accountabilities
Ensuring compliance with the Childcare Act 2006 and associated Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
Ensuring compliance of all relevant Health and Safety legislation and any actions set by Ofsted.
Develop and ensure the implementation of high quality learning and play programme which embraces the principles of the EYFS to foster the growth, happiness and development of every child.
Act as a role model in the implementation of activities and in interactions with children and adults.
Support and guide the development of secure relationships with parents and other appropriate agencies.
Demonstrating effective communication skills to be able to inform, persuade, inspire and motivate children and employees and provide feedback to other professionals and parents, students, trainees etc
Provide support to the Manager and staff during Ofsted inspections in addition to maintaining high quality Ofsted inspection results and to assist in the implementation of any recommendations.
Support staff with training and guidance to ensure that all staff are competent andconfident in the delivery of any programmes which underpin the EYFS.
Support staff in the development of and maintenance of appropriate planning, observation and assessment procedures to ensure a consistent implementation of the EYFS, implementing action plans to address areas for improvement.
Assist all staff to be reflective about their practice and guide them in using this reflection to develop and improve experiences for children whilst feeding back into the nursery self-evaluation process.
Provide support and guidance in the development of suitable care plans when accommodating children with Special Educational Needs.
Support the nursery manager in identifying key concerns and priorities and agreeing actions.
Duties
To be responsible to the Nursery Manager and cover for the Manager when appropriate and directed.
Providing feedback to the Manager on all issues relating to the nursery day.
To supervise in the daily domestic management of the nursery, including ensuring that the nursery is kept safe, secure, clean and welcoming at all times.
Maintaining records and documentation to comply with statutory regulations.
Be prepared to help where needed in preparation of snack meals, cleaning of equipment, doing laundry etc.
Appropriately support and manage staff absence including staff sickness, holidays and maternity leave to ensure sufficient staff are available at all times.
On a daily basis deploy staff to meet EYFS staffing requirements (i.e. age appropriate staff: child ratios and qualified: unqualified ratio) and to ensure continuity of care for children.
At all times ensure that only designated staff administers medication as described in the company’s medicine policy.
To ensure that colleagues liaise with parents when the child is collected from Nursery.
To report and record all accidents, incidents and to be aware of all risk assessments within the nursery, maintaining all room risk assessments are updated regularly, and to ensure all staff read and sign them.
Assist in the delivery of staff supervisions and regular staff meetings.
Participate in parent evenings, publicity events, children’s outings, and meetings with external agencies.
To assist in the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and their respective stages of development, teaching the children to respect and look after their environment.
Encourage staff to reflect on their own practices to identify areas for improvement.
To ensure that everyone is treated as individuals with respect and full consideration, in line with the Paper Moon’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
To assist with the marketing and promotion of the Nursery, in order to raise the profile and awareness of Paper Moon Day Nursery.
To maintain confidentiality at all times.
To be flexible and undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by line management. You may be required to support other Nurseries within the company from time to time as directed by senior management.
